The four sauces of Basque cuisine are the backbone of this exhibition. Each sauce is associated with its moment in history and the protagonists of that time, with those cultures and civilisations that brought food, spices, utensils and recipes, in short, culture, and that have contributed to the development of our own culture. But it also includes culinary contributions from Basque gastronomy to other cultures, legends and stories, and traditional recipes and those of the “new new” Basque cuisine.
In addition, each sauce is related to the culinary landscape of the Basque Country and the products of the sea and the land that have given rise to these landscapes, highlighting in some cases the Basque coast, its mountains and valleys or the avant-garde of its three capitals.
The exhibition is made up of 4 main spaces, 4 colours, 4 flavours, each of them illustrated with pieces and utensils that tell us about the history of each of the sauces.
There are different types of visits:
For adults: Gilda (pepper, olive and anchovy skewer) and a glass of cider 6 €.
For children: chocolate lollipop and apple juice. 3 € for children under 14.
The exhibition also includes educational and entertaining material for the youngest members of the family, thanks to the character Super Gilda, a fun mascot created by Euskadi Gastronomika to tell curious stories about gastronomy, landscape, nature and much more.
